Join the Acute Care Cancer Center (ER) at MD Anderson Cancer Center as a Patient Care Technician. In this role, you will provide essential patient care services under the direction of registered nurses, directly contributing to patient comfort and clinical outcomes. You will work with patients experiencing oncologic emergencies, supporting a multidisciplinary care team dedicated to evaluating and treating cancer patients who require acute emergency intervention.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and mobilization
- Support patient admit and discharge procedures
- Obtain and record vital signs
- Update and retrieve patient information
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly patient environment
- Function as a member of the assigned care team
- Perform other duties as assigned
Clinical Setting
The Acute Care Cancer Center is an emergency department specializing in acute care for cancer patients. The unit partners with multidisciplinary care centers to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for patients requiring emergency oncologic care.
Schedule and Shifts
This is a full-time, regular position requiring three 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays. Available shifts include:
- Day/Evening: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Evening/Night: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- Mid-Shift: 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- One year of patient care experience in an acute care hospital setting, preferably in an emergency room
Compensation
- Hourly range: $18.27 (minimum) to $27.40 (maximum), with a midpoint of $22.84
- Annual salary range: $38,000 (minimum) to $57,000 (maximum), with a midpoint of $47,500
- Non-exempt position eligible for overtime pay
