PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN 6A Med Surg 24HR Day Shift (7am-7:30pm) Episcopal Campus

This position provides direct and indirect patient care on the Medical-Surgical unit at Episcopal Campus. Working under the guidance of registered nurses, you will implement components of the patient care plan through a variety of clinical and support duties.

Schedule

• Day shift: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• 24-hour unit

Responsibilities

• Measure vital signs and interpret cardiac monitoring strips
• Identify dysrhythmias and document monitoring strips
• Report patient information to the registered nurse
• Perform electrocardiograms (ECGs)
• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood glucose testing
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care needs
• Support patient comfort, safety, and emergency measures
• Address nutrition and fluid needs
• Assist with elimination needs
• Perform unit secretary duties
• Assist with patient transport
• Support environment of care responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• Successful completion of a Nurses Aide/Medical Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation program, OR successful completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing Care Course in a Registered Professional Nurse program

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• General experience as a nursing assistant, medical assistant, monitor technician, and/or unit secretary
• For Medical Telemetry positions: experience as a nursing assistant, medical assistant, monitor technician, phlebotomist, and/or unit secretary
