This position provides direct and indirect patient care on the Medical-Surgical unit at Episcopal Campus. Working under the guidance of registered nurses, you will implement components of the patient care plan through a variety of clinical and support duties.
Schedule
- Day shift: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
- 24-hour unit
Responsibilities
- Measure vital signs and interpret cardiac monitoring strips
- Identify dysrhythmias and document monitoring strips
- Report patient information to the registered nurse
- Perform electrocardiograms (ECGs)
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood glucose testing
- Assist with activities of daily living and personal care needs
- Support patient comfort, safety, and emergency measures
- Address nutrition and fluid needs
- Assist with elimination needs
- Perform unit secretary duties
- Assist with patient transport
- Support environment of care responsibilities
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Nurses Aide/Medical Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation program, OR successful completion of the Fundamentals of Nursing Care Course in a Registered Professional Nurse program
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- General experience as a nursing assistant, medical assistant, monitor technician, and/or unit secretary
- For Medical Telemetry positions: experience as a nursing assistant, medical assistant, monitor technician, phlebotomist, and/or unit secretary
