Patient Care Technician - 10AC Orthopedics - AGH - Full Time Nights

This full-time night shift position provides direct patient care and assists with unit coordination on the 10AC Orthopedics unit at Allegheny Health Network. You will work under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, providing basic nursing procedures and comfort care to patients in stable condition, while assisting RNs with acutely ill and complex patients. This role combines clinical responsibilities with unit support duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including activities of daily living, skin assessment, vital signs, ambulation assistance, specimen collection, intake and output monitoring, blood glucose testing, point-of-care testing, bladder scanning, and patient transport
• Document care activities in the electronic medical record, including vital signs, weights, intake and output, restraints, and specimen collection
• Report changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff
• Participate in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives including bedside shift reports, hourly safety rounding, falls prevention, hand hygiene, and isolation protocols
• Maintain a clean and orderly patient environment
• Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers
• Support unit operations including supply stocking, equipment cleaning, and equipment retrieval
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to perform basic mathematics
• Basic computer skills
• If limited or no experience: Must be able to attend 2 weeks of training

Licenses and Certifications

• CPR certification from the American Heart Association
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred Qualifications

• Acute care experience within the last 3 years
• Currently enrolled in an Associate's or Bachelor's degree nursing program with at least one completed clinical rotation
