Patient Care Associate I (PCA I) - Operating Room

Glens Falls Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA I) to join the Operating Room team. In this entry-level position, you will work alongside registered nurses to provide comprehensive perioperative care for patients of all ages undergoing a wide variety of surgical and invasive procedures. The 16-suite Operating Room offers exposure to numerous surgical specialties in a fast-paced, high-volume surgical environment, providing excellent opportunity to gain clinical experience early in your healthcare career.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a busy surgical environment supporting perioperative care across multiple surgical specialties, caring for pediatric through geriatric patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of first-level patient care including promoting hygiene and mobility
• Measure and record patients' vital signs such as temperature and blood pressure
• Respond to patient and family needs and requests
• Assist and support physicians and nurses during routine procedures and treatments
• Report all observations and changes in patient condition to the responsible RN for timely, appropriate evaluation and response
• Prepare hospital rooms
• Change patients' bed sheets and pillows, and assist with turning or repositioning patients in their beds
• Deliver meals to patients and assist with feeding
• Help patients dress and assist with toileting needs
• Bathe patients
• Listen to patients' concerns, record them, and report them to a nurse
• Provide patient companionship when needed

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Passion for caring for and supporting others

Preferred Qualifications

• Patient care experience
• Medical terminology knowledge

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (can be earned after hire)

Compensation and Benefits

• Competitive base rate of $18.75 to $28.13 per hour based on experience level, education, and relevant certifications
