We are seeking a Pathology Patient Care Technician II to join our laboratory team in a fast-paced clinical setting. In this role, you will perform phlebotomy procedures for both inpatients and outpatients, and order and process specimens in the laboratory.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, fingerstick, and heel stick phlebotomy procedures including blood cultures, newborn screens, dxylose and glucose tolerance tests as outlined in the Central Receiving and Processing manual
- Interact with patients and parents to perform phlebotomy procedures following age-appropriate care protocols
- Greet patients and parents promptly and courteously, providing full attention to customer service
- Demonstrate theoretical and practical knowledge of procedures and equipment, maintaining skills and demonstrating competency through performance, documentation, and supervisory observation
- Participate in proficiency testing programs to validate competency as required
- Document events in the event tracker as they are discovered and investigate circumstances surrounding events
- Direct workflow and staff breaks to ensure work is processed within established turn-around times
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One year of phlebotomist experience
