The opportunity

Job Description

CareMed Health Solutions is seeking a Part Time Wound Care Nurse Practitioner to provide specialized wound services to patients residing in skilled nursing facilities in Bellefontaine, Ohio. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary care team, delivering comprehensive wound management to the elderly population in long-term care settings.

Clinical Setting

You will provide wound care services within skilled nursing facilities, collaborating with nursing home staff and primary care physicians to coordinate patient care and manage treatment plans.

Responsibilities

  • Provide wound care services for long-term care patients residing in skilled nursing facilities
  • Prescribe appropriate medications, including controlled substances in accordance with Ohio law
  • Order, review, and follow up with treatments and diagnostic testing
  • Communicate regularly with nursing home staff regarding changes in patient condition and care plans
  • Collaborate with the primary care physician on patient management

Required Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Ohio
  • Board certification
  • Clinical background in adult, family, or geriatric specialties
  • Clinical background in wound care, including chronic, debilitating, stalled, or infected wounds
  • Ability to diagnose and treat diabetic, arterial, venous, and mixed etiology wounds or Kennedy ulcers
  • Ability to stage pressure injuries according to NPIAP standards
  • Familiarity with wound care best practices and advanced wound care products including collagens, alginates, foams, and silver-based products
  • Experience with wound vacs and other durable medical equipment such as pressure relieving or reducing devices
  • Experience working in a long-term care setting
  • Ability to work with an electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary care team to coordinate patient care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Wound care certification or willingness to obtain certification
  • DEA licensure
