Part Time School Nurse (RN) - Paterson

KIPP New Jersey is seeking a Part Time School Nurse (RN) for our Middle School in Paterson, NJ. In this role, you will provide direct health services to students, conduct state-mandated health screenings, ensure immunization compliance, and maintain accurate and confidential health records. You will work closely with teachers, the school social worker, child study team, and operations staff to support the health and safety of our students and school community.

Clinical Setting

This position is based at a KIPP New Jersey middle school serving students in grades K-12 across the Paterson area. More than 90% of students qualify for free or reduced meals.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, including immunization data, physical exams, screenings, referrals, and medical histories
• Administer medications and treatments according to state laws, school policies, and standing orders
• Respond to acute illnesses, injuries, and emotional health concerns with appropriate interventions
• Develop and implement care plans based on assessments and ongoing evaluations
• Monitor immunization compliance and communicable diseases; promote a safe and healthy school environment
• Assist families in accessing community health resources and support services
• Collaborate with staff, including food services, physical education, and counselors, to promote student wellness
• Provide input and advice to school-based teams, including student support teams
• Maintain and manage supplies and equipment for the nurse's office and first aid stations

Required Qualifications

• Current New Jersey School Nurse Certification or eligibility requirements for a standard or emergency school nurse certificate
• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Current CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) certification

Schedule

This is a part-time position with the following schedule:

• Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Compensation

• Starting hourly rate: $45-$50 per hour
