Part Time Registered Nurse (RN) for School - OPWDD

QSAC is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to support children with autism in our preschool program located in Queens. This role focuses on managing the health and medical needs of students in a school-based setting while working collaboratively with families and healthcare professionals.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a preschool program serving children with autism. The school operates from 8am to 3:30pm, and this position runs from 9am to 2pm.

Schedule

This is a part-time position working 5 hours per day, 5 days per week. The schedule follows the school calendar and includes 6 weeks during the summer (July to mid-August).

Responsibilities

• Oversee general health issues for students with autism in the school
• Assist in tracking and obtaining annual medical and immunization records
• Maintain confidential medical records
• Assess student illness when students are sick at school
• Contact parents for pick-up and coordinate with medical establishments (ER, Urgent Care, etc.) as needed
• Supervise students waiting for parent pick-up
• Consult with parents and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal medical treatments are provided
• Maintain medical and health-related supply inventory
• Attend internal team meetings as needed
• Perform other related tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Valid New York State RN license in good standing
• Vaccination required

Preferred Qualifications

• 1-2 years of RN experience
• School nurse experience

Compensation

The pay rate for this position is $45 per hour.
