Wellstar Health System is seeking a Part-Time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Oncology department at Roswell. This position offers the opportunity to provide direct patient care in an oncology setting while working under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Nurse Manager.
Schedule
- Part-Time, 24 hours per week
- Day shift (United States of America)
- Scheduling flexibility required
Clinical Setting
This role is based in the Oncology department and may require floating between Cobb Hospital departments based on clinical need. All sites are within 35 miles of Cobb Hospital. Local travel is required.
Responsibilities
- Assess and assist with managing patients' total needs following physician orders with RN oversight and utilizing the nursing process
- Perform routine nursing procedures to meet patient needs under RN supervision
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in accessing and de-accessing ports, including flushing lines and maintaining sterile technique
- Administer medications as defined within LPN scope of practice for Wellstar Health System
- Meet established productivity standards
- Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care that is culturally sensitive and appropriate to the patient population
- Partner with patients, significant others, and family members to promote a comfortable and safe environment for care delivery
- Coordinate care and services with the RN and other team members
- Inform the RN, physician, midlevel provider, clinical supervisor, or manager of changes in patient condition as appropriate
- Collaborate with the RN to develop and revise the individual plan of care based on patient need and physician orders
- Serve as a patient educator to foster self-care or caregiver support
- Use teach-back methods to ensure patient and caregiver understanding of self-care
- Complete required documentation accurately and within established timeframes
- Demonstrate knowledge and appropriate application of regulatory guidelines
- Check voicemail and return patient calls as appropriate when working in triage
- Check work email daily
- Participate in the orientation and education of new employees and nursing students as appropriate
- Attend continuing education and in-services as directed and needed
- Remain current in clinical knowledge for the care of oncology patients
- May serve as a preceptor for newly hired LPN colleagues
- Delegate tasks to unlicensed staff as appropriate and within scope of practice
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-services, special projects, and continued education
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Active LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification or ARC-BLS (American Red Cross Basic Life Support) or BLS-I (Basic Life Support - Instructor)
- Valid Georgia driver's license
- Reliable transportation
