Inland Eye Specialists Surgery Center is seeking a full-time Perioperative Registered Nurse (PACU RN) to provide pre-operative and post-operative care at our ambulatory surgery centers in Hemet and Murrieta, California. You will be responsible for the safety and individualized care of patients before and immediately following emergence from anesthesia for ophthalmic surgical procedures. This role offers no nights, weekends, or major holidays.
Clinical Setting
Inland Eye Specialists Surgery Center performs over 2,500 annual surgeries including cataract, glaucoma, strabismus, corneal disease, and cosmetic eyelid procedures. You will work in a collaborative, respectful environment at one or both of our ambulatory surgery center locations.
Responsibilities
- Work at both the Hemet and Murrieta ASC locations as needed
- Maintain electronic medical records and provide narrative recording of unusual perioperative events
- Provide accurate preoperative instructions to patients
- Provide customized discharge education and conduct follow-up phone calls to patients
- Utilize nursing foundation to formulate patient-specific care plans related to pre-existing conditions, advocate for patients, and communicate information during patient hand-offs
- Apply perioperative and ophthalmic nursing principles to patient care, particularly regarding perioperative policies and postoperative care of vision-impaired and sedated patients who have received ophthalmic anesthetic blocks
- Administer medications safely, adhering to Safe Injection Practices and Controlled Substance Policies
- Participate in medication outdate checks and supply inventory maintenance
- Adhere to infection control and medical emergency preparedness policies
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license
- BLS Certificate
- ACLS Certificate
- Minimum two years of experience as an RN, with at least one year in a perioperative setting or specialty involving sterile procedures
- Working knowledge of nursing performance standards
- Working knowledge of operating room equipment including microscope, phacoemulsification machine, electrosurgical unit, surgeon headlamp, lasers, medical gases, patient gurney, and patient care monitor
- Ability to assess patients' physical, educational, emotional, spiritual, and age-appropriate needs
- Ability to read and interpret medical documents such as doctor's notes

- Pay range: $46.00 to $48.00 per hour, depending on experience
