Outpatient Infusion RN (IV RN) - Medical Oncology

MercyOne North Iowa is seeking an Infusion RN to join the Medical Oncology clinic. In this part-time role, you will administer outpatient infusions including chemotherapy, anti-cancer drugs, cardiac medications, and other specialized infusions. You will work with oncology/hematology, cardiac, COVID, and other outpatient infusion patients while maintaining professional nursing standards and providing patient and family education.

Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy, anti-cancer drugs, cardiac, and other outpatient infusions in designated infusion areas
• Accept responsibility and accountability for delivery of care through the nursing process
• Direct and guide patient and family education
• Assess patient learning needs and develop teaching plans
• Collaborate with patients and families to identify complex teaching needs
• Function as a resource for department staff
• Practice nursing within the MercyOne North Iowa professional nursing practice plan

Schedule

• Part-time, 24 hours per week
• Day shift

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of a professional nursing program
• Current RN license in the state of Iowa
• ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Cancer Basics course prior to administering chemotherapy
• ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy: Fundamentals of Administration course and successful completion of Chemotherapy Skills Checklists prior to administering chemotherapy
• ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate course must be successfully completed after 9 months of employment and renewed every 2 years

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in an oncology inpatient or outpatient health care setting
• Chemotherapy and cardiac drug administration experience
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a health care setting (inpatient, outpatient, home care, hospice, or clinic)
• OCN certification within 2 years of employment
• Current ACLS certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire
• Completion of necessary cardiac dysrhythmias and management courses within 3 months of hire
