Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center seeks an experienced Orthopedic Operating Room RN to support surgical patients within the Connecticut Joint & Spine Institute. This position delivers safe, high-quality intraoperative care in a collaborative, patient-centered environment, rotating between Orthopedic Operating Room suites in the Institute and the Main Operating Room to support Orthopedic Traumas.
Responsibilities
- Provide intraoperative care by performing circulating and/or scrub duties
- Position patients appropriately for procedures
- Prepare surgical sites
- Handle instrumentation and maintain sterile technique
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure efficient, coordinated care throughout procedures
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school
- Valid RN license in Connecticut
- Intraoperative Operating Room nursing experience, particularly in Orthopedic surgical procedures, including circulating and/or scrub roles
- Ability to function independently in the Orthopedic OR
This role is not designed for new graduates or those seeking training through the Periop 101 program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current BLS/CPR certification (AHA or Red Cross)
- Familiarity with AORN standards
Schedule
- Full-time position: 36 hours per week
- 12-hour day shifts
- Three 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays
- On-call participation required based on unit needs
Compensation
- Hourly position included in RN Step Program pay range: $36.15 to $59.95 per hour
- Specialty pay available exclusively to experienced nurses with one or more years of RN experience
