OR Lifestyle RN-Operating Room Registered Nurse

MercyOne Genesis is seeking a full-time Operating Room Registered Nurse to provide perioperative patient care in the intraoperative phase. In this role, you will work in both scrub and circulating positions, serving patients across all age groups from neonates through geriatric populations. You will work independently with minimal direction, preparing for surgical cases efficiently while anticipating the needs of patients, surgeons, anesthesia staff, and other OR team members.

Schedule

This is a full-time exempt position with a weekly salary paid at base rate. You will provide on-call coverage Sunday PM through Friday AM, working 6:00 PM to 7:00 AM shifts. A commitment to work one shift per pay period within this window will be at the discretion of the manager. You must be within a 30-minute response time and will be scheduled within the holiday call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Scrub and circulate on cases independently with minimal direction
• Prepare for surgical cases efficiently, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia, and other OR team members
• Provide a safe environment for patient and staff by implementing aseptic technique standards and controlling physical and psychological aspects of the environment
• Collect and analyze data and assess patients in developing nursing diagnoses
• Communicate effectively with patients, staff, physicians, and families
• Maintain knowledge of equipment setup and function
• Initiate and direct room cleanup and turnover
• Participate in orientation and training of new personnel
• Assist in maintenance of physician preference cards and other OR resource materials
• Utilize computer systems for surgical documentation, specimen disposition, and obtaining pertinent information
• Participate in departmental performance improvement activities
• Attend department meetings and in-services
• Maintain working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, organizational integrity programs, and standards of conduct

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing
• Current Iowa RN license (MercyOne Genesis requires a current RN license in either Iowa or Illinois at time of hire, with a secondary license for the other state obtained within 12 months)
• Minimum of 2 years operating room experience
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter training for child and/or dependent adult abuse within 3 months of hire
• Ability to work in a collaborative, shared leadership environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Compensation and Benefits

Up to $20,000 sign-on bonus available with a 2-year commitment/retention period. Payout schedule: 25% at hire, 25% at 1 year, 50% at 2 years. Competitive compensation with a full benefits package and opportunity for growth throughout the system.
