Operating Room Technician

Monument Health is seeking an Operating Room Technician to support surgical services at Rapid City Hospital. In this role, you will assist nursing staff and OR personnel with non-nursing duties that keep the operating room running efficiently and safely. You will work in a fast-paced surgical environment, supporting multiple cases throughout your shift and responding to the dynamic needs of the department.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operating room turnovers, including thorough cleaning of rooms as needed
• Deliver surgical and culture specimens to the Laboratory or X-ray department
• Obtain blood products from the Blood Bank, prepare required documentation, verify with Blood Bank staff, log time and temperature, and return products in a timely manner
• Prepare beds and transport carts, ensuring oxygen tanks are full, linens are clean, and equipment such as ambu-bags, monitors, and IV poles are readily available
• Assist with patient positioning as requested
• Gather supplies and equipment needed for upcoming surgical cases
• Retrieve supplies from the core and return unused items promptly
• Return equipment to designated storage areas after cases
• Maintain stock supply of clinical items on each shift, including organizing and maintaining the sub-sterile room, replenishing warmers, and keeping scrub sink areas well-stocked
• Prioritize and organize assigned tasks with minimal supervision
• Complete all assigned duties efficiently and according to departmental checklists

Schedule

• 40 hours per week
• Requires ability to work assigned schedules and hours as determined by the department

Physical Requirements

This position involves very heavy work. You will be required to exert over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds occasionally (up to 33% of the time). You may be exposed to radiation and will have frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances.

Compensation

• Starting pay rate: $18.20 - $20.92 per hour (determined by knowledge, skills, and experience)
