Operating Room Technician-Certified

Herrin Hospital is seeking a full-time Operating Room Technician-Certified to prepare the operating room and patients for surgical procedures. This day shift position is based in Herrin, IL.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room and patient for planned surgical procedures
• Assist in transportation and positioning of patients
• Assemble and dismantle tables and instruments before and after procedures
• Open sterile supplies and set up for procedures
• Complete skin preparation and draping
• Assist surgeon with gowning and gloving
• Pass instruments and suture to surgeon during procedures
• Maintain correct count of instruments, sutures, and sponges
• Apply dressings and bandages as needed
• Identify, collect, and care for specimens
• Decontaminate instruments, supplies, and equipment according to established policies; handle and store items appropriately
• Aid in efficient turnover of the operating room between cases
• Monitor and restock supplies

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
• One of the following:
• Certification: Successfully pass the Certified Surgical Technologist exam through NBSTSA or NCCT
• Non-Certification: Graduate of an OR technician program accredited through ARC/STSA, or completion of on-the-job training or military experience as a technician, LPN, dental assistant, ophthalmologist technician, or medical assistant (evidence of training required)
• Minimum 6 months technical experience or specialized training for non-certified candidates; on-the-job and military training accepted

Schedule

• Full-time, day shift

Compensation

• $24.60 to $38.13 per hour, commensurate with experience
