Hendricks Regional Health is seeking a full-time Operating Room Staff Registered Nurse to provide patient and family-centered nursing care in a surgical environment. This position works 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, four days per week, with call requirements. You will be part of a team committed to best practice, relationship-based care, and professional nursing standards guided by the ANA Code of Ethics and Indiana Nurse Practice Act.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to surgical patients based on the Nursing Process and regulatory standards
- Manage time and resources effectively to prioritize patient care needs
- Make appropriate patient care assignments based on nurse expertise, patient acuity, and technical needs
- Demonstrate expertise in operating room nursing and apply evidence-based practice to enhance patient outcomes
- Maintain a high level of safety focus for patients, guests, associates, and self
- Utilize the event management system to report near misses and participate in proactive error reduction processes
- Apply principles of Just Culture, HIPAA, national safety standards, and social media policy
- Exhibit excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers
- Communicate about progress, challenges, and results through patient rounding, timely response to patient needs, and service recovery
- Maintain a therapeutic environment through noise reduction and appropriate use of electronic devices
- Participate in staff meetings and other meetings as required by department
- Participate in nursing research projects and evidence-based practice initiatives
- Participate in peer review as requested by management
- Maintain standard precautions and apply principles related to patient care
- Follow organizational and regulatory guidelines related to daily responsibilities
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, OR if from a non-accredited nursing school, a minimum of five years of acute care nursing experience, OR an advanced degree from an accredited school
- Current active licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Indiana State Board of Nurses' Registration and Nursing Education
- ACLS and BLS certifications
- Area-specific required education and certifications as applicable to the operating room setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, or enrollment in an MSN accelerated program
Education and Certifications
- BSN preferred or required within five years from date of hire (MSN enrollment accepted in place of BSN for accelerated programs)
- ACLS, BLS, PALS, and specialty certification as required for the operating room
Schedule
- Full-time position
- 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM
- Four days per week
