Inova Professional Services Building is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for an OR Services Leader opening to support the Gastroenterology and Interventional Pulmonology service line. This outpatient surgery center is located on the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus and is staffed with highly trained physicians, nurses, and technicians. The center is licensed by the state of Virginia, certified by Medicare, accredited by AAAHC, and accredited by The Joint Commission.
Schedule
- Full time, Monday through Friday
- 4x10 hour shifts (7:00 AM to 5:30 PM)
- No holidays, weekends, or overnight shifts
Responsibilities
- Ensure effective and efficient functioning of the unit and achievement of optimal patient outcomes
- Deliver safe, high-quality, and cost-effective preoperative services
- Identify strategies for cost-effective and efficient practices without compromising patient safety or outcomes
- Promote creative thinking among staff to develop new and innovative devices, practices, and strategies
- Serve as primary liaison, clinical lead, and resource for the assigned surgical specialty
- Ensure unit compliance with quality, safety, regulatory requirements, and Joint Commission standards
- Adhere to all Inova Health System policies and procedures while coaching staff on compliance
- Make clinical decisions based on education and experience
- Mentor team members in identifying intraoperative outcomes
- Serve as a role model and provide guidance to others regarding preoperative services and specialty
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience within Orthopedics or Spine service line
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Associate's Degree in Nursing (if Associate's Degree, must complete BSN within 5 years of start date)
- Active license as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Basic Life Support certification with American Heart Association
- CNOR or equivalent specialty certification within 12 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with and building preference cards
- Experience working with providers to determine specialty equipment and supplies
- Experience with endoscopes
