The opportunity

Job Description

This is a PRN (as-needed) Operating Room Registered Nurse position at an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). You will serve as a patient advocate, providing continuity of care designed to meet individual patient needs through collaboration with the healthcare team. You will care for adult, pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients in the perioperative setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing and systematic assessment and data collection, focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive status
  • Formulate goal-directed, prioritized plans of care based on nursing diagnoses and patient outcomes
  • Implement care in a knowledgeable and skilled manner to reach desired patient outcomes through nursing processes
  • Establish priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available center resources including time, personnel, equipment, and supplies
  • Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events
  • Demonstrate applied knowledge in medical and surgical patient care, pain assessment, actions of pharmaceuticals and anesthetic agents, laboratory values, safety and legal issues, and emergency equipment
  • Practice effective problem identification and resolution skills as a method of sound decision making
  • Perform timely, accurate, and concise documentation both on the floor and in the patient record
  • Work as part of a team in delivering patient care
  • Maintain current CPR and ACLS certification
  • Attend all mandatory in-services and participate in staff meetings
  • Remain flexible and adaptive, accepting and implementing new ideas and approaches
  • Treat all patients equally in accordance with the center's Patient Rights policy
  • Review and carry out physician orders in an appropriate professional manner
  • Assist with other duties as requested

Required Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited nursing program
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state where the facility is located
  • Minimum of three years of work experience as a staff nurse

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current CPR certification
  • Current ACLS certification

Physical Demands

You must be able to frequently sit, converse, and listen; use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are required. You must be able to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis and push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
