Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) - ORMC

Join Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center as an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) and function as a Circulating Nurse in a fast-paced Level 1 Trauma facility. You will render patient care to patients undergoing elective or emergent procedures from various specialties, demonstrating critical knowledge, skills, and judgment in a complex acute-care environment.

Clinical Setting

Orlando Health ORMC is a 808-bed acute-care facility and the only Level I Trauma Center in Central Florida. Responsibilities

• Demonstrate critical knowledge, skills, and judgment to care for patients requiring complex assessment and therapies, high-intensity interventions, and high-level continuous nursing vigilance
• Utilize information and assessment data to anticipate and respond with confidence to rapidly changing patient conditions
• Identify and prioritize information to take immediate and decisive evidence-based, patient-focused action
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays such as intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, and cardiac rhythms from cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, and oxygen pumps
• Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol
• Observe, monitor, and assess patients' conditions; recognize and interpret serious situations; and call the physician or take preplanned emergency measures when the physician is not immediately available
• Assess patient needs and develop or revise an individualized plan of care based on patient needs and responses; evaluate the patient's progress toward attaining expected outcomes
• Build respectful relationships with all team members and customers while respecting diversity
• Function as a patient and family advocate
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care on the assigned unit or department
• Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician
• Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and the interdisciplinary team to effectively plan and manage the unit or department
• Serve as a role model for staff and support the hospital and nursing department's goals and strategies
• Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and assess and interpret information needed to identify each patient's age-specific requirements

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing
• Current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license
• Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification
• Minimum of two years of Operating Room Circulating Nurse experience
• Meet all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and the unit or department

Additional Certifications

• ACLS and TNCC certifications are required for certain areas
