Operating Room Registered Nurse Contract 40hrs

AdventHealth is seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse for a 40-hour per week contract position. This role is part of AdventHealth StaffFlex, which offers flexible contract assignments at one facility or the ability to float within multiple hospitals across 9 states. The position provides the opportunity to work in a dynamic surgical environment while maintaining schedule flexibility and the option to convert to permanent staff if desired.

Clinical Setting

This position is based at AdventHealth's Orlando facility (7727 Lake Underhill Rd, Orlando, FL 32822) in the Operating Room. The role involves direct patient care in an acute hospital setting with exposure to various surgical procedures and patient populations.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate critical thinking skills appropriate to the patient's level of care
• Collect and document patient health data systematically and timely
• Conduct thorough, ongoing assessments of patients, analyze assessment data, and develop individualized, evidence-based plans of care to optimize outcomes in alignment with interdisciplinary goals
• Implement interventions from the plan of care safely, timely, and appropriately, documenting actions taken
• Collaborate and promote timely patient placement by following hospital policy for patient admission, discharge, and transfer
• Participate in peer interviewing and peer review processes as needed
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and staff, maintaining professional relationships and promoting a positive environment
• Educate patients and families on health conditions, procedures, and care plans, ensuring understanding and compliance based on assessed learning needs
• Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies, ensuring legal and ethical practice
• Participate in initiatives related to quality, safety, effectiveness, efficiency, and impact on practice in the delivery of nursing services
• Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring patient rights and needs are respected and addressed
• Ensure appropriate use and stewardship of medical supplies and equipment to support patient safety and operational efficiency
• Ensure safe and effective handoff communication and documentation
• Follow CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrate appropriate use of PPE, perform hand hygiene according to policy, and enforce safety regulations
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nursing
• 2 or more years of nursing experience in an acute hospital setting
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification
• Fluency in English (read, verbal, and written skills)
• High level of abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions, and revise plans of care according to patient outcomes
• Basic computer skills with ability to navigate Microsoft Windows-based programs

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing
• Trauma Nurse Course Certified (TNCC)

Schedule and Compensation

• 40 hours per week, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM (day shift)
• PRN contract assignment
• $70 per hour
• Guaranteed hours
• Competitive premium pay rate
