Operating Room (OR) RN - Orlando Health (Orlando Region)

Orlando Health is hiring registered nurses with advanced care experience for operating room positions across our hospital system in the Orlando region. We offer a variety of schedules and locations to choose from depending on your interests and specialties. Our operating room nurses administer patient care in hospital settings where patients have advanced illnesses or injuries requiring timely, intense, and complex care. These areas require a lower caregiver-to-patient ratio and highly trained team members with advanced skills.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills, and judgment in caring for patients needing complex assessments, intensive interventions, and continuous high-level nursing vigilance
• Use data effectively to anticipate, adapt to, and confidently respond to rapidly changing patient conditions
• Quickly identify and prioritize information to take decisive, evidence-based, patient-centered action
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment, interpreting and recording data from devices regarding intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, and cardiac rhythms from cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, oxygen pumps, and similar equipment
• Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol
• Coordinate care and delegate as appropriate to other team members on a defined group of patients
• Document patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent manner meeting all required and regulatory standards, including patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety
• Demonstrate competency in nursing skills and use of unit-specific patient care equipment
• Prioritize patient care continuously, following Evidence-Based Practice Standards
• Effectively identify and resolve problems
• Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
• Contribute to the knowledge and skills of others and the continuous improvement of the quality of health care practice and organizational outcomes
• Participate and may lead unit level and organizational level committees of nursing practice and performance improvement
• Participate in department and organizational peer review, mentoring, and coaching regarding professional practice or role performance
• Practice efficient use of supplies and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Attend staff development in-services, department meetings, and nursing committee meetings
• Partner with the nursing leadership team to identify professional development needs
• Assume responsibility for your own professional development and continuing education
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing
• Meet all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and unit/department

Licenses and Certifications

• Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
• Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire
• ACLS, NRP, PALS, and TNCC are required for certain areas

Experience

• At least 1 year of Operating Room experience
