Operating Room Nurse (Full-Time)

Ohio Valley Surgical Hospital is seeking a full-time Operating Room Nurse to provide quality patient care in the operating room setting. You will work under the supervision of the Department Manager and Chief Nursing Officer, using the nursing process and medical plan of care to deliver excellent patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, coordinate, and participate in patient care according to patient needs, the plan of care, standards of care, and organizational policies
• Adhere to written hospital policies, regulatory guidelines, and infection control practices
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients and personnel
• Ensure accurate, concise, and timely documentation in patient medical records
• Operate and maintain equipment, instruments, and supplies consistent with safe nursing practice
• Prepare, administer, and document medications per policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Communicate courteously and effectively with patients, physicians, co-workers, and the public
• Promptly report problems to management
• Appropriately delegate tasks
• Participate in the orientation of new employees
• Seek educational opportunities to increase clinical competence and enhance personal growth
• Complete mandatory classes and continuing education requirements for licensure
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in Ohio
• CPR certification or proof of current training per American Heart Association or American Red Cross standards upon hire; failure to maintain current CPR credential will result in removal from schedule
• ACLS training within three months of hire
• PALS training within six months of hire
• ECG course completion or successful ECG test completion within three months of hire if responsible for reading ECG tracings as part of job role
• Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position
• Ability to perform intermittent physical mobility and activity including walking, standing, sitting, light lifting, pulling, and pushing of carts and equipment; ability to bend at the waist and kneel

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous work experience in this position for no less than one year
