TriStar Centennial Medical Center is seeking an Operating Room Nurse CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) on a PRN basis. This role is part of HCA Healthcare, one of the nation's leading healthcare providers. You will work in a 740+ bed comprehensive facility that includes a dedicated Heart & Vascular Center and serves diverse surgical specialties including cardiac, vascular, neurosciences, oncology, orthopedics, and more.
As an Operating Room Nurse CVOR, you will provide perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular and other surgical procedures. You will be an integral member of the surgical team, working collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients prior to surgery and provide patient and family education about the procedure and perioperative process
- Prepare patients for surgery, including initiating intravenous therapy, administering preoperative medications, and verifying surgical sites
- Participate in surgical site verification protocols including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols according to hospital policy
- Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
- Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and thoroughly document changes in patient condition and care provided
- Educate patients and families or caregivers about medical conditions, treatment, and follow-up measures
- Apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care
Schedule and Work Environment
- Self and preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for schedule predictability
- On-call is required during select non-business hours
- Work in a culture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staff
- Participate in rounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses, to provide input on patient care and surgical workflow improvements

Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- OR circulating experience required
- Bachelor's Degree, Associate Degree, or Certificate in nursing
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
