Operating Room Nurse

Blue River Surgery Center, a new state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center opening in early 2024, is seeking an Operating Room Nurse to join our skilled team. This facility will feature five operating rooms and two specialty procedure rooms, with specialties including orthopedics, GI, podiatry, general, and vascular surgery. You will provide safe and effective nursing care in the circulating or scrub role, ensuring patients are properly cared for until transfer to recovery.

Clinical Setting

Blue River Surgery Center is located in South Kansas City near I-435 and Holmes. The center is part of Surgery Ventures Group powered by HCA Healthcare, one of the nation's largest private employers of Registered Nurses.

Responsibilities

• Oversee instrument and equipment setup for your operating room, including utilization of preference cards and ability to anticipate surgeon needs
• Coordinate and oversee your room during a case as the circulator
• Facilitate effective and efficient transitions between surgical procedures
• Utilize appropriate body mechanics when moving patients to stretchers and OR tables to prevent injury
• Manage patient care and medication, including assistance with anesthesia
• Consistently review charts for completeness in accordance with documentation protocols prior to and after surgical procedures

Required Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
• Minimum 1 year of experience in an operating room setting, preferably in an ambulatory surgery center
• Active RN license as required by state of employment or appropriate compact licensure
• Valid BCLS Certification upon employment (online certification not acceptable)
• ACLS as required by facility

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS certification (may be required at some facilities)
• CNOR certification
