Operating Room Assistant

St. Charles Health System's Operating Room department is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to maintain cleanliness and support operations in the Main Operating Room in Bend, Oregon. This relief position with a variable schedule offers the opportunity to work in a specialized perioperative environment while supporting the clinical team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean environment in operating rooms, offices, bathrooms, common areas, pre-op, and PACU
• Ensure all beds, tables, positioners, and supplies are available and properly maintained
• Provide support to OR staff with cleaning and equipment management
• Transport patients and items throughout the hospital
• Maintain, prepare, and move equipment and supplies within the OR
• Complete unit-specific and annual competency-based learning modules and competencies on time
• Support a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests
• Conduct all activities with professionalism and confidentiality
• Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS/CPR) certification required by date of hire
• Surgical Cleaning Technician Certification within 1 year of hire
• Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Some institutional housekeeping experience

Physical Requirements

This position is classified as Patient Care Level 3 and requires:

• Continual standing and walking (75% or more)
• Frequent sitting and lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 1-25 pounds (50%)
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching overhead, and lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 25-50 pounds (25%)
• Rare climbing of stairs (10%)
• Rare exposure to wet/slippery areas and chemical solutions (10%)
• Risk for exposure to blood-borne pathogens

Compensation

• Pay range: $21.53 - $27.56 per hour
