Seattle Children's is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to support surgical operations in a full-time day shift position. In this role, you will perform essential unit support tasks that keep the operating room functioning smoothly, including cleaning surgical suites and the general OR environment, assisting RNs and surgical technologists in preparing for procedures, and managing turnover between cases.
Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain surgical suites and the operating room environment
- Assist RN and surgical technologist in preparing the OR for surgical procedures
- Assist in turnover procedures between cases
- Transport patients to and from the operating room
- Transport lab specimens
- Maintain adequate levels of non-implant related supplies in the OR
- Safely handle and remove medical and hazardous waste
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the safe use of chemicals, equipment, cleaning techniques, and infection control methods
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- Three years of materials handling and supply experience
- Knowledge of supply management methodologies (FIFO)
- Knowledge of surgical terminology, products, and procedures
- Ability to speak, write, and understand English
- Competence in safe handling and removal of medical and hazardous waste
Preferred Qualifications
- Surgical background or familiarity with supplies and instruments used in the operating room environment
- Institutional cleaning experience

Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation range: $22.18 - $33.27 per hour
- This range is based on full-time employment (2,080 hours per year)
- Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise
- Note: This compensation range is specific to Seattle; positions outside Seattle may be compensated differently
