The opportunity

Job Description

Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to support surgical teams in our 8-bed operating room suite. You will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Peri-Operative Nurse, assisting with general department cleaning, case cart preparation, patient transport, and room turnover. The hospital performs a wide range of surgical procedures including general/vascular, orthopedics, urology, gynecology, and ophthalmology. As an Orthopedic Center of Excellence, the facility specializes in orthopedic procedures including same-day discharge total joint replacements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist surgical teams with operating room support tasks
  • Perform general department cleaning and maintenance
  • Prepare case carts for surgical procedures
  • Transport patients to and from the operating room
  • Assist with room turnover between cases
  • Run errands as needed to support surgical operations

Schedule

  • Full-time position, 1.0 FTE
  • Primary shift: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • On-call rotation on weekends and holidays, typically one weekend rotation per 4 weeks and 2 holidays per year
  • Shift times may vary to accommodate PTO; department is staffed 6:00 AM to 7:30 PM

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) card through the American Heart Association or ability to obtain upon hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous operating room support staff role
  • Training as a nursing assistant
  • Other patient contact role experience
