Operating Room Assistant

Operating Room Assistants support the surgical team before, during, and after surgery at IU Health Methodist, a Level 1 Trauma facility in downtown Indianapolis. You will work in one of 29 state-of-the-art operating suites serving diverse surgical specialties including Trauma, Orthopedics, Cardiovascular, Vascular, Neurology, and General Surgery.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms by cleaning and procuring equipment
• Open sterile supplies while maintaining strict adherence to sterile field protocols
• Provide transportation and assistance with patient care
• Assist Surgical Technologists and Registered Nurses with assigned duties
• Work collaboratively as a member of the surgical team alongside surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, surgical technologists, and other surgical personnel

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Evening shift
• Monday through Friday

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification
• Physical stamina and proper lifting techniques
• Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospital environment
