Operating Room Assistant

Boston Center for Plastic Surgery is seeking an Operating Room Assistant to support surgical operations in a fast-paced plastic surgery environment. This role is essential to maintaining efficient OR operations, ensuring proper equipment setup, managing surgical supplies, and preparing rooms between cases.

Responsibilities

OR Preparation

• Pick cases and review surgical requirements
• Stock rooms and maintain readiness for incoming procedures
• Set up rooms with appropriate equipment and supplies
• Ensure stretchers, tables, and devices are positioned correctly with proper accessories
• Help turn over ORs between cases to allow surgical staff breaks and lunch

Equipment and Supply Management

• Check equipment availability and report malfunctions
• Manage consignment and specialty supply inventory
• Unload and organize incoming orders
• Track inventory needs in the backroom

Instrumentation

• Clean instruments appropriately according to protocol
• Pack kits accurately for sterilization
• Run Bowie Dicks and biologics testing
