The opportunity

Job Description

Good Samaritan Society is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide resident-centered care in our long-term care facility in Omaha, Nebraska. As a Nursing Assistant, you will serve as a caregiver to residents during 12-hour day shifts, working under the supervision of a registered nurse to deliver compassionate, age-appropriate care based on individual care plans.

Clinical Setting

This position is located at GSS NE Omaha Millard Center, a not-for-profit organization with over 100 years of experience providing housing and services to seniors in a Christian environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct resident care including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and undressing
  • Obtain and record vital signs
  • Assist residents with transfers, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment
  • Provide range of motion and passive exercises
  • Assist with meals and snacks, provide water and supplements, and create a positive dining experience
  • Support food preparation and dining activities
  • Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens
  • Provide psychosocial support and personal care to assigned residents
  • Assist nursing staff and providers with procedures as needed
  • Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information
  • Communicate residents' changing conditions and care-related concerns to the charge nurse
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas
  • Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation
  • Follow all infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use requirements
  • Participate in departmental and organizational committees and task forces as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 16
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of hire date by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement
  • Satisfactory completion of yearly department-specific competency testing
  • Maintenance of a record of continuing education credits, with a minimum of 12 hours required annually
  • Maintenance of all department-specific required certifications
  • When applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle report (may be required depending on facility and role responsibilities)
  • Medical qualification to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy (when applicable)

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • 12-hour day shifts
  • 40 hours per week
