The opportunity

Job Description

As a Certified Nursing Assistant in our long-term care facility, you will provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will be a member of the nursing team, delivering age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of residents according to their care plans.

Clinical Setting

This position is located at GSS IA Lemars, a not-for-profit organization with over 100 years of experience providing housing and services to seniors in a Christian environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic health care and daily living assistance including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing and undressing
  • Obtain and record vital signs
  • Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment
  • Provide range of motion and passive exercises
  • Assist with meals and snacks, provide water and supplements as appropriate, and create a positive dining experience
  • Provide psychosocial support and personal care to assigned residents
  • Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed
  • Document resident interactions, outcomes related to care, behavior, activity, and dietary information
  • Communicate residents' changing conditions and care-related concerns to the charge nurse
  • Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas
  • Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation
  • Participate in departmental and organizational committees and task forces as needed
  • Follow infection prevention and control policies and use Personal Protective Equipment appropriately

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 16
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of hire date by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through endorsement
  • Satisfactory completion of yearly department-specific competency testing
  • Maintenance of a record of continuing education credits, with a minimum of 12 hours required annually
  • Maintenance of all department-specific required certifications
  • When applicable for your state, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry
  • Depending on facility requirements, may need to be classified as a Sanford Category II Driver, requiring a motor vehicle report, proof of valid driver's license, and medical qualification to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care
