The opportunity

Job Description

GSS MN Windom is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide resident-centered care in our long-term care facility located in Windom, Minnesota. As a Nursing Assistant, you will serve as a caregiver to residents during scheduled work periods, delivering daily living assistance and basic health care support under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Clinical Setting

This position is based at GSS MN Windom, a not-for-profit organization with over 100 years of experience providing housing and services to seniors. The facility is located at 705 6th St, Windom, MN 56101.

Responsibilities

  • Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents according to their care plans
  • Assist residents with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing and undressing
  • Obtain and record vital signs
  • Provide psychosocial support and personal care to assigned residents
  • Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment
  • Provide range of motion and passive exercises
  • Assist with food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience for residents
  • Assist residents with meals and snacks, provide water and supplements as appropriate
  • Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed
  • Document resident interactions, outcomes related to care, behavior, activity, and dietary information
  • Communicate residents' changing conditions and care-related concerns to the charge nurse
  • Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean and operational living areas
  • Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation
  • Participate in departmental and organizational committees and task forces as needed
  • Follow infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use requirements

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Day shift
  • 32 hours per week
  • Weekend differential pay available

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 16
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of hire date by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement
  • CNA training and certification required and provided by facility
  • Satisfactory completion of yearly department-specific competency testing
  • Maintenance of a record of continuing education credits, with a minimum of 12 hours required annually
  • Maintenance of all department-specific required certifications
  • When applicable for the state, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry
  • Depending on facility requirements, may require a valid driver's license, motor vehicle report, and medical qualification to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy
