Nursing Assistant, Certified - Full Time Day

Good Samaritan is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide resident-centered care in our long-term care facility in Mandan, North Dakota. As a Nursing Assistant, you will serve as a caregiver to residents during scheduled day shifts, working under the supervision of a registered nurse to deliver compassionate, age-appropriate care based on individual care plans.

Clinical Setting

This position is located at Good Samaritan's Mandan Miller facility, a not-for-profit organization with over 100 years of experience providing housing and services to seniors in a Christian environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents
• Assist with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing and undressing
• Obtain and record vital signs
• Provide psychosocial support and personal care to residents
• Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment
• Provide range of motion and passive exercises
• Assist with food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience
• Assist residents with meals, snacks, water, and supplements as appropriate
• Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed
• Document resident interactions, outcomes related to care, behavior, activity, and dietary information
• Communicate residents' changing conditions and care-related concerns to the charge nurse
• Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens
• Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas
• Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation
• Participate in departmental and organizational committees and task forces as needed
• Follow infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use requirements

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Day shifts, 8 hours per day
• 40 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of hire date by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement. CNA training and certification are required and provided by the facility.
• Satisfactory completion of yearly department-specific competency testing
• Maintenance of a record of continuing education credits, with a minimum of 12 hours required annually
• Maintenance of all department-specific required certifications
• When applicable for the state, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle report (role may classify as a Sanford Category II Driver depending on facility and responsibilities)
• Medical qualification to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care
