The opportunity

Job Description

Good Samaritan Society - ND Park River is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant for full-time evening shifts in our long-term care facility. As a Nursing Assistant, you will provide resident-centered care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse, working as a member of the nursing team in a Christian environment.

Clinical Setting

This position is located at GSS ND Park River, a not-for-profit organization with over 100 years of experience providing housing and services to seniors. You will work in a long-term care setting serving an older adult population.

Responsibilities

  • Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and personal care
  • Obtain and record vital signs
  • Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment
  • Provide range of motion and passive exercises
  • Assist with meals and snacks, provide water and supplements, and create a positive dining experience
  • Support food preparation and dining activities
  • Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens
  • Provide psychosocial support to residents
  • Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed
  • Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information
  • Communicate residents' changing conditions and care-related concerns to the charge nurse
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas
  • Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation
  • Follow infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use
  • May participate in departmental or organizational committees and task forces as needed

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Evening shifts, 8 hours per shift
  • 40 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum age of 16
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of hire date by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement. CNA training and certification are required and provided by the facility.
  • Satisfactory completion of yearly department-specific competency testing
  • Maintenance of a record of continuing education credits, with a minimum of 12 hours required annually
  • Maintenance of all department-specific required certifications
  • When applicable for the state, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry
  • Depending on facility requirements, may need to be classified as a Sanford Category II Driver, requiring a motor vehicle report, proof of valid driver's license, and medical qualification to perform essential driving functions per Sanford Driving Policy
  • Satisfactory drug screen and pre-employment background screening

  • High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care
