Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant TC – Primary Care

Southcentral Foundation (SCF) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) for a Team Coverage (TC) role in Primary Care. As a Team Coverage Provider, you will play an important role in maintaining continuity, access, and timely care within the Primary Care setting. When an empaneled primary care provider is unavailable, you will provide coverage for their customer-owners and support by addressing both acute and ongoing primary care needs.

You will care for customer-owners across the lifespan, from newborns through end of life. This position is primarily focused on bridging gaps in access and providing timely, comprehensive primary care when the empaneled provider is unavailable. The role requires adaptability and flexibility, as coverage needs may vary based on provider availability, customer-owner needs, and clinic priorities.

Clinical Setting

SCF programs are established to serve a primary population comprised of Alaska Native people who are affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) and Alaska Native and American Indian people within SCF's geographical service area. Employees should have a thorough understanding of the cultures and the needs of this population.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the assigned area in accordance with established protocols and treatment regimens
• Address acute and same-day visits
• Provide preventive care and well-child checks
• Manage chronic disease
• Follow up on emergency department visits and hospital discharges
• Manage inbox communications
• Support population-based health measures and other care team priorities

Required Qualifications for Nurse Practitioner

• Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Alaska
• Current certification by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
• Meets all requirements to obtain associate medical staff membership and required privileges of service
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• ACLS, NRP, ATLS, ALSO, and PALS as required for specialty and any certification relating to scope of practice

Required Qualifications for Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C)

• Licensed as a Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) in the State of Alaska with active Collaborative Agreement
• Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• Meets all requirements to obtain associate medical staff membership and required privileges of service
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• ACLS, NRP, ATLS, ALSO, and PALS as required for specialty and any certification relating to scope of practice

Preferred Qualifications

• Physician Assistant certification
• Nurse Practitioner certification

New employees must complete all required health screenings and immunizations before their first day of work. Current employees must complete any additional screenings or immunizations that become necessary due to workplace conditions, public health concerns, or newly available vaccines.
