Join Baylor Scott & White Health as a Nurse Practitioner in our busy Urgent Care clinic located in Hutto, Texas. This role offers autonomous urgent care management in an updated clinic space with strong operational support. You will evaluate and treat acute conditions and minor injuries for a mixed patient population ages 6 months and older, seeing an average of 25–30 patients per day.

Clinical Setting

The urgent care clinic operates within a collaborative care team environment that includes 5 Primary Care Physicians and 1 Endocrinology Physician. You will have dedicated support staff consisting of 1 LVN and 1 CMA (1:1 support ratio) and 3 Patient Services Specialists. Lab services are available Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Provide autonomous urgent care management and evaluate and treat acute conditions and minor injuries
  • Assess the physical and mental condition of patients by performing comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and obtaining medical histories
  • Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs
  • Prescribe or recommend medical drug therapies or other treatments and perform procedures following approved policies
  • Formulate and implement patient treatment plans based on assessments and evidence-based medicine, collaborating with physicians and team members as needed
  • Counsel patients and families on medical processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion, including information about drug regimens, possible side effects, and interactions with food supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies
  • Maintain appropriate records detailing patient treatment plans and outcomes
  • Initiate timely consultation and referral when problems exceed scope of practice or expertise
  • Perform invasive procedures specific to scope of practice and provider expertise as delegated by the supervising physician
  • May be required to perform patient care duties beyond regular schedule based on coverage needs of the department

Schedule

The clinic operates Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Saturday–Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You will work a rotating two-week schedule:

  • Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
  • Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday

This rotation provides built-in extended time off during the cycle.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Texas RN licensure or RN licensure with compact privilege from a state in the Nurse Licensure Compact for RNs and LVNs
  • Current Texas APRN license
  • Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Texas
  • Certification from an accredited board as an APRN for the patient population of focus
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience
