Nurse Practitioner - Pulmonology and Respiratory Institute - Mount Sinai Union Square - Full Time Days

Mount Sinai is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner to join the Pulmonology and Respiratory Institute at Union Square. As an independent practitioner, you will diagnose, treat, and prescribe for patients within your specialty area of practice. Medical orders, progress notes, and treatment plans do not require physician countersignature.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient and family health status through comprehensive health history and physical examination
• Initiate and order therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examinations
• Prescribe medication regimens and interpret findings according to accepted standards of care and practice guidelines
• Educate and counsel patients in health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic illnesses
• Document findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record
• Consult with physicians according to established standards, policies, procedures, and protocols
• Provide age-appropriate care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety criteria
• Initiate referrals to specialty services and foster continuity of care
• Participate in team meetings and interdisciplinary conferences
• Maintain patient and employee confidentiality
• Develop individualized plans of care based on diagnoses and patient needs
• Record, report, and interpret patient responses to the plan of care
• Perform patient record reviews with the collaborating physician at least every three months if utilizing a collaborative practice agreement
• Complete Focused Professional Practice Proctoring Evaluation (FPPE) or Ongoing Professional Practice Proctoring Evaluation (OPPE) as required by Medical Staff
• Practice as a member of the allied health staff according to Medical Staff rules and hospital bylaws

Required Qualifications

• At least two years of nursing experience in your specialty area of practice
• Active New York State RN license with current registration
• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the New York State Department of Education with current registration
• Master's degree program designed to prepare an NP to diagnose, treat, and prescribe within their specialty area, or successful completion of an approved supplemental education program (post-Master's NP certificate)
• Completion of a pharmacy component of not less than required semester hours
• Instruction in New York State and Federal Laws relating to prescriptions and recordkeeping (3-hour course)
• Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• National Board Certification in Advanced Practice Nursing (required for all NPs hired effective June 1, 2019, or for NPs who bill for professional services; may be deferred up to one year if approved by Chief Nursing Officer or designee)
• Credentialing through the Credentialing Committee of the Medical Board with approved Delineation of Privileges
• Collaborative Practice Agreement with a physician and designated protocols if you have less than 3,600 hours of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner, OR a Collaborative Relationship with a physician based on employment at Mount Sinai Hospital if you have documented work history as an NP with greater than 3,600 practice hours (all NPs will be placed on FPPE initially)

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of Nurse Practitioner experience

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS)
• The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Compensation

• Hourly rate: $72.99
• Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and operational need
• Salary does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits
