Job Description

Boulder City Primary Care Clinic is seeking a part-time Nurse Practitioner to provide direct patient care in a primary care setting. Working under the supervision of the Primary Care Medical Officer and Primary Clinic ED Nursing Director, you will interview and examine patients, determine diagnoses, order diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans for both acute and long-term patient care needs. You will serve as a clinical resource for staff and students, participate in clinic committees and educational initiatives, and help establish policies and procedures for the clinic.

Clinical Setting

This position is based at Boulder City Primary Care Clinic, serving a rural health care continuum of care patient population.

Responsibilities

  • Interview and examine patients to determine diagnoses
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies
  • Prescribe medications and recommend lifestyle modifications for short-term and long-range patient care
  • Perform therapeutic procedures including administering injections and immunizations, suturing, and managing wounds and infections
  • Develop and implement patient management plans to ensure continuity of care
  • Document patient care services in patient and department records
  • Instruct and counsel patients on therapeutic regimens, health maintenance, family planning, and emotional health
  • Refer patients to needed services that cannot be provided at the clinic
  • Contribute to physician effectiveness by identifying patient care issues and recommending courses of action
  • Serve as a resource for staff and students on patient management strategies
  • Participate in the development, execution, and periodic review of clinic policies
  • Maintain compliance with infection-control policies and federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements
  • Participate in professional development and educational workshops
  • Support team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand or walk for 12 hours
  • Must be able to lift and move patients
  • Must be able to work under sustained pressure and during stressful situations

Required Qualifications

  • Must be a provider in good standing
  • Must maintain hospital-established credential requirements
