Dayton Physicians Network is seeking a PRN Advanced Practice Provider to join our independently owned Urology practice. This is an as-needed position with variable days and hours providing urologic patient care under direct physician supervision in both outpatient clinic and hospital settings.
Clinical Setting
You will work collaboratively with urologists and other healthcare professionals as part of an interdisciplinary team. A urologist is always on call and available for backup support.
Schedule
This is a PRN position with coverage scheduled as needed based on departmental needs and provider availability:
- Office: 10-hour shifts, typically 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM at MVHS or MVHN
- Weekend: PRN coverage as needed when the primary weekend provider is on vacation. May include Friday call, Saturday/Sunday morning inpatient rounds with call coverage afterward, or a combination of day/night coverage at MVH
- Overnight Weekday Call: PRN 6:00 PM to 7:00 AM call shifts may be available at MVH. In-person response is only required for emergencies or procedures as needed
- Holidays: PRN day and/or night coverage as needed, including inpatient rounding and call coverage at MVH
Responsibilities
- Assess patient status by obtaining health history through patient/family interviews and chart reviews; assess presenting illness, risk factors, family history, psychosocial situation, and cultural factors; and perform appropriate physical examination
- Determine tentative diagnosis and order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests
- Consult with physicians and other clinicians as an integral part of the clinical team to assess, evaluate, and address urologic patient needs
- Develop and implement treatment plans by prescribing/dispensing medications and/or injections in compliance with medical practice guidelines and state laws
- Prepare and set up for urological procedures such as cystoscopy, complex Foley placement, continuous bladder irrigation, and placing and flushing 3-way catheters
- Communicate with patients regarding medications, treatments, and discharge instructions as applicable
- Educate patients regarding health promotion and illness prevention
- Communicate appropriate case management information to members of the clinical team
- Prepare documentation for medical records including updating patient medical charts by posting examination and test results, diagnosis, medications, and treatment in written/computerized manner
- Coordinate care for office patients and field clinical phone calls as contact to patients and referring physicians
- When providing hospital coverage, serve as the initial point of contact for patient calls and clinical concerns for after-hours calls. Be in-house to take consults and patient calls, address any patient needs, and be available in the event of an emergency such as difficult catheter placement, CBI irrigation, or acute patient care need
- Serve as first contact for after-hours patient calls as scheduled

Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited advanced nurse practitioner curriculum
- Current state license as an advanced registered nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority
- Current CPR certification
- Current DEA license
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience working with a Practice Management system
