Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Inpatient Palliative Care

Presbyterian Medical Group seeks a Board Eligible or Board Certified Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our established practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This full-time inpatient position offers the opportunity to serve as a consultant in palliative and hospice medicine, providing expert clinical care to patients with critical and life-limiting illnesses.

Clinical Setting

You will work in an inpatient setting, managing approximately 7-8 consults per day. Some hospice care will be included as part of this role. You will serve as a hospice provider, offering clinical oversight on care of hospice patients and assisting the Hospice Medical Director with documentation for certifications to obtain hospice benefits.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues in the management of patients in inpatient settings
• Offer care to patients with critical and life-limiting illness, focused on assisting them to achieve medical treatment concordant with their goals
• Provide expert symptom management to assist patients in achieving maximal quality of life despite their illness
• Build effective relationships with referring physicians and care teams to improve collaboration centered on patient care
• Work with an interdisciplinary team in both palliative and hospice settings, offering support to patients and families
• Work with colleagues to improve the quality of care offered to patients

Required Qualifications

For Nurse Practitioner applicants:

• Master's degree in Nursing
• Active New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license
• Two years of working experience as a Nurse Practitioner
• AANC or AANP certification

For Physician Assistant applicants:

• Certified Physician Assistant credential
• Two years of working experience as a Certified Physician Assistant
• Active license from the New Mexico Board of Medical Examiners
