Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant - Employer Health Services - Greenville

Prisma Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary and occupational health care to employee populations at corporate on-site health services clinics. Working under physician supervision and following established protocols, you will deliver episodic and chronic care, occupational health services, preventive screenings, and health education to employees at corporate locations with 200-12,000 employees. This role offers the opportunity to work with a high degree of independence while utilizing evidence-based practice guidelines.

Clinical Setting

You will work at corporate on-site health services clinics serving employee populations. You may be assigned to work independently at worksites and may oversee daily clinic management operations. You may also be involved in establishing new corporate health clinics at non-traditional sites.

Responsibilities

• Provide episodic and chronic care, occupational health care, screenings, and education to employees at on-site corporate locations without direct physician supervision, following current evidence-based guidelines
• Provide care to employee dependents as required by contract
• Oversee daily management of corporate health services clinics while working toward system objectives related to healthcare quality, patient engagement, and financial performance
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient clinical problems and healthcare needs
• Perform physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines
• Diagnose and treat occupational-related injuries and illnesses; recommend or prescribe treatments for functional ailments or defects
• Demonstrate knowledge of musculoskeletal injuries common to occupational health
• Collaborate with healthcare team members in care planning and arrange follow-up care or referrals as appropriate
• Coordinate and implement plans of care in consultation with collaborating physicians when conditions are outside your scope of practice
• Perform point-of-care testing, specimen collection and handling, and phlebotomy within regulatory guidelines
• Perform occupational health-related physical examinations and screenings including vital signs, vision tests, hearing tests, drug and alcohol screenings, respiratory clearances, and spirometry tests as needed
• Complete all charting, summaries, correspondence, and administrative documentation required for care documentation and billing in a timely manner
• Engage actively with health promotion efforts and employee wellness initiatives
• Provide disease management education to varied populations
• Maintain courteous and cooperative working relationships with all levels of management, employees, physicians, and the general public
• Participate in activities that enhance Prisma Health's public image and increase market presence of Employer Health Services
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Education

• Physician Assistant: Bachelor's Degree in a Physician Assistant program approved by an accredited medical body such as CAHEA, American Medical Association, or Association of Medical Colleges
• Nurse Practitioner: Minimum Master's Degree in Nursing; graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program accredited by an agency recognized by the state board of nursing (ANCC or AANP)

Licenses and Certifications

• PA: NCCPA certification and current Physician Assistant licensure in South Carolina, OR Nurse Practitioner: Licensed as an advanced practice nurse by the SC Board of Nursing
• Prescriptive authority in South Carolina
• South Carolina Controlled Substance license
• Federal DEA license
• Current BLS certification
• Certified DOT medical examiner (must be obtained within 6 months of hire)

Experience

• One year of primary care experience preferred; preventative care, occupational health, and/or urgent care experience is helpful

Preferred Qualifications

• Current COHN or COHN-S certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of office equipment including fax and copier
• Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and database management
• Data entry skills
• Knowledge of basic patient care and the scope and responsibility of advanced practice nurses
• Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures for administering patient care
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
• Skill in applying and modifying principles, methods, and techniques necessary to provide ongoing patient care
• Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions
• Skill in preparing and maintaining records via EMR
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employers, and employer representatives
• Ability to utilize, understand, and physically operate clinical equipment and office equipment such as computer terminals and telephones
• Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations
• Empathy in communication with patients
• Demonstrated sound independent judgment related to employee healthcare and safety
