Nurse Practitioner (Pedi Neurosurgery)

UTHealth Houston seeks a Nurse Practitioner to provide specialized advanced nursing care in Pediatric Neurosurgery. Working under physician supervision, you will deliver comprehensive patient assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, order and interpret diagnostic studies, coordinate care across the healthcare team, and educate patients and families to support positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Perform relevant patient assessments and physical examinations
• Coordinate, direct, and implement the patient's plan of care
• Order, conduct, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies and procedures
• Make medical recommendations and referrals
• Formulate, implement, and evaluate outcome-based treatment plans
• Maintain appropriate medical records detailing treatment plans and outcomes
• Facilitate patient education relating to medical processes, medication, nutrition, and health promotion
• Collaborate with patients, families, clinicians, and referral services to support patient recovery
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) State Licensure or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) by Texas Board of Nursing (BON)
• Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Nurse Practitioner (APRN-NP) by Texas Board of Nursing (BON)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association (AHA)
• Clinical specialty certification determined by the department
• Master's Degree in Nursing as NP or Master's Degree in Nursing with completion of a post-masters Nurse Practitioner Certification Program

Physical Requirements

• Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects

Additional Requirements

• Permanent residency and work authorization in the State of Texas required
• This is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094
