This position offers an opportunity to provide high-quality, evidence-based outpatient pain management care as a Nurse Practitioner working under the supervision of a Pain Medicine physician. You will manage patients with acute, chronic, and complex pain conditions using a multimodal, biopsychosocial approach while supporting safe and effective opioid stewardship in alignment with federal and state guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient pain management care to patients with acute, chronic, and complex pain conditions
  • Assess pain, perform differential diagnosis, and develop comprehensive treatment plans
  • Interpret diagnostic imaging, laboratory results, and procedural findings relevant to pain conditions
  • Prescribe and monitor multimodal pain therapies, including non-opioid pharmacologic therapy, opioid prescribing per regulations, behavioral and functional strategies, and interventional options
  • Implement opioid-related risk mitigation strategies, including PDMP checks, urine drug screening, treatment agreements, and tapering protocols
  • Perform office-based procedures such as trigger point and joint injections
  • Collaborate with the supervising physician to manage spinal cord stimulator patients
  • Lead and support clinical staff in developing efficient, patient-centered workflows
  • Assist with clinical triage, follow-up care, and coordination among interdisciplinary pain care providers
  • Participate in after-hours call for non-emergent outpatient pain management issues as scheduled
  • Generate accurate, timely documentation (within 2 business days) sufficient for regulatory, clinical, and billing needs
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives within the Pain Management department
  • Ensure clinical practice aligns with the strategic goals of the health system

Required Qualifications

  • Current New York State licensure and registration as a Nurse Practitioner (Family, Adult, or Acute Care)
  • National board certification (AANP or ANCC for NP)
  • Active DEA license
  • Prior outpatient APP (Advanced Practice Provider) experience required
  • Graduation from an accredited NP program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Pain Management, Neurology, neurosurgery, or orthopedics
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and pain-related documentation and billing requirements

Compensation

  • Pay Range: $114,000-$134,000 per year
  • Starting pay based on experience
