Join our urgent care team as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant providing direct patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting. You will evaluate and treat patients with minor acute illnesses, perform diagnostic assessments, order and interpret tests, and manage wound care and infections. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patient outcomes while working collaboratively with medical staff and management.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient examinations, initial assessments, and initiate treatment for minor acute illnesses
- Refer patients to appropriate centers of care when applicable
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests including x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies
- Perform therapeutic procedures including injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound management
- Prescribe medications and treatment regimens appropriate to assessed medical conditions
- Develop and implement patient management plans and maintain progress notes
- Provide patient education on therapeutic regimens, health maintenance, and wellness
- Refer patients to specialists and relevant care options as appropriate
- Coordinate services with coworkers and other departments
- Supervise ancillary staff as required
- Respond to stressful situations calmly and professionally
- Maintain professional and empathetic relationships with patients and families
Clinical Setting
This position is based in an urgent care setting in Stafford. You will work under limited direction, with Nurse Practitioners coordinating with an APN lead and Physician Assistants working under the Medical Director's supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in a relevant field
- Master of Science in Nursing (for Nurse Practitioner applicants)
- Successful completion of the American Nursing Association National Certification Test for Advanced Practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner (for NP applicants) or Physician Assistant National Certification Exam (PANCE) (for PA applicants)
- AHA BLS Provider CPR certification required at hire
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in family practice, urgent care, or emergency service
- Proficient leadership skills
