Northwestern Medicine seeks a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Otolaryngology (ENT) department. This full-time, 100% outpatient position supports the ENT surgeon in the evaluation, treatment, and management of patients while maintaining an independent clinic to enhance patient access and continuity of care.
Schedule
- Full-time, 4 ten-hour shifts
- Days only
- No nights, weekends, or call
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient health assessments including health histories and physical examinations
- Provide direct clinical care to patients with a wide range of otolaryngology-related health problems
- Prescribe and order medications, therapies, laboratory tests, x-rays, and procedures according to clinical privileges
- Evaluate patients to determine their need for further health care
- Document all care, education, and procedures in the medical record
- Provide comprehensive teaching to patients and families
- Refer to other disciplines as appropriate and serve as a consultant in areas of expertise
- Integrate research-based knowledge and clinical expertise in clinical decision-making
- Maintain a professional image in appearance, manner, and presentation
- Advocate for patients, families, coworkers, and the community
- Maintain all required certifications and continuing education for licensure and privileging
- Serve as a role model and preceptor to students
- Participate in unit, departmental, divisional, or hospital committees and task forces as appropriate
- Participate in quality improvement and research initiatives pertinent to the specialty
- Provide formal education to internal and external groups
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited school or college of nursing (for Nurse Practitioner) OR Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in Illinois and current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Illinois with certification by a national certifying body approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation APRN Board (for Nurse Practitioner) OR Current license as a Physician Assistant in Illinois (for Physician Assistant)
- Ability to apply for controlled substance license and DEA number
- Privileged and credentialed through the Northwestern Medicine Medical Staff Office
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-2 years of ENT experience
