Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - OBGYN -24 hour

Kaiser Permanente is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide high-quality healthcare to members in the OBGYN specialty. This is a part-time, regular position based at Skyline Medical Offices in Salem, Oregon, with a float assignment across all service areas in the NW Region. You will work 24 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with approximately 5% travel required.

Clinical Setting

You will work in adult primary care and obstetrics/gynecology, covering clinician panels and addressing short-term needs (three months or less) in the medical office setting. You will interface with large provider and support staff teams while managing a high volume of patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality healthcare through direct patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plan formulation and implementation for patients with common acute and chronic illnesses and injuries
• Perform histories and physicals, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and order medications as appropriate
• Perform health maintenance services, including patient education for well members
• Refer patients for specialty consultations or management of difficult problems
• Document all care in patients' permanent medical records in accordance with accepted medical and legal standards
• Provide all medical care in accordance with accepted practice standards, hospital and clinic protocols, physician supervision requirements, and State licensing guidelines for Oregon and Washington
• Assist in developing NP/PA float protocols
• Develop written patient education materials
• Provide in-service training
• Chair or participate on committees such as the Breastfeeding Task Force and Regional Controlled Substance Abuse Committee
• Participate in NP/PA meetings
• Perform other duties as requested

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an ANA-approved Nurse Practitioner program or AMA-approved Physician Assistant program (or Child Health Associate training program), providing a master's degree or equivalent, or equivalent requirements to meet State licensure
• Ability to assess, diagnose, and effectively treat common medical diseases and injuries
• Ability to use appropriate procedural and testing equipment
• Ability to see a large volume of patients
• Ability to interface with large provider and support staff

Licenses and Certifications

For Nurse Practitioner candidates:

• Registered Nurse License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire
• Nurse Practitioner National Certificate
• Registered Nurse License (Washington) within 6 months of hire (Compact License acceptable in lieu of Washington RN license)
• Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License (Washington) within 6 months of hire
• Nurse Practitioner License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire
• Drug Enforcement Administration Registration
• National Provider Identifier required at hire

For Physician Assistant candidates:

• Physician Assistant License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire
• Physician Assistant National Certificate
• Physician Assistant License (Washington) within 6 months of hire
• Drug Enforcement Administration Registration
• National Provider Identifier required at hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Thorough and working knowledge of all common diseases in Adult Medicine, Family Practice, or Internal Medicine
• Familiarity with less common diseases
• Working knowledge of State healthcare laws, licensing board regulations, and controlled substance regulations
• Understanding of professional limitations and appropriate referral practices

Schedule

• Part-time position: 24 hours per week
• Monday through Friday
• 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Day shift
• Approximately 5% travel required
