The opportunity

Job Description

Valley Children's Hospital's award-winning Neurology team is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide diagnostic services, medical treatment, and follow-up care to infants, children, and adolescents with suspected or confirmed neurological disorders. The neurology team specializes in seizures, epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, and other neurologic conditions. Valley Children's is accredited by the NAEC as a Level 4 Epilepsy Center, equipped with advanced diagnostic procedures and innovative programs to provide comprehensive medical evaluation and treatment for patients with complex epilepsy.

Position Overview

As an Advanced Practice Practitioner, you will be accountable for a defined patient population and function in roles including expert practitioner, consultant, educator, patient advocate, care coordinator, and researcher within neurology. You will provide direct patient care utilizing the medical model within your scope of licensure and in accordance with applicable law, regulations, and hospital policies. Some positions require on-call availability according to a predetermined schedule or as needed based on hospital needs.

Required Qualifications - Nurse Practitioner

Education

  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program

Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse License issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing
  • NP - Nurse Practitioner License issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing
  • NP-C - Nurse Practitioner National Certification from an accredited certifying board (must be completed within six months of hire)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association (required within 30 days of hire)
  • Successful completion of the credentialing process through the Medical Staff office via CIDP for appropriate scope of practice, written standardized protocols, and furnishing privileges

Schedule and Compensation

  • Full-time position, 40 scheduled weekly hours (8 hours daily)

Credentialing Requirement

Upon acceptance of an offer of employment and prior to providing patient care, you must submit your Scope of Practice and all information for credentialing to the Medical Staff office and Hospital Interdisciplinary Professional Practice Council.
