Join International SOS Government Medical Services as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Neurology, providing comprehensive neurological care within a collaborative military healthcare environment. In this onsite role, you will evaluate and manage acute and chronic neurological conditions for both new and established patients across outpatient and inpatient settings. You will practice independently within your clinical privileges while collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
Clinical Setting
You will work in a military healthcare environment serving a high volume of patients with varied healthcare needs. The setting includes both outpatient and inpatient services, with opportunities to provide scheduled care, urgent consultations, same-day visits, and telephone consultations as needed.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate new and established patients and diagnose and manage acute and chronic neurological conditions
- Develop treatment plans and prescribe medications and immunizations within approved protocols and clinical privileges
- Provide scheduled outpatient care and inpatient, urgent, same-day, and telephone consultations as needed
- Perform or assist with medically indicated neurological diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Communicate laboratory and radiology results and educate patients and families about treatment, prevention, and self-management
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care
- Maintain timely and accurate medical records and clinical coding
- Participate in peer review and quality-improvement activities, support clinical education as assigned, and promote patient safety and infection-control practices
Required Qualifications
- At least 24 months of experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant within the preceding 36 months in an outpatient and/or inpatient clinical setting
- Neurology experience required
- Full, current, and unrestricted professional license from any U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
- Current Basic Life Support and ACLS certifications
- Ability to practice independently within the authorized scope of practice and clinical privileges
- Basic knowledge of managing daily clinic operations serving a high volume of patients with varied healthcare needs
Nurse Practitioner Pathway
- Master's degree in nursing
- Graduation from an applicable nursing specialty program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
- Current Nurse Practitioner certification in the applicable specialty through ANCC, AANP, or another recognized national nursing certification organization appropriate to the specialty
Physician Assistant Pathway
- Bachelor's degree
- Graduation from a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant
- Completion of at least 12 months of residency or fellowship training in a medical specialty program acceptable to the Defense Health Agency
- Current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
Schedule
Full-time position, Monday through Friday, typically 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a one-hour unpaid meal break. Shift times may vary within operating hours of 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. No weekend or federal holiday coverage. Employees will work no more than 40 hours per week.
Compensation and Benefits
