Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

Marin City Health and Wellness Center seeks a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary care services in a community health center setting. Working collaboratively with the Chief Medical Officer, you will deliver comprehensive healthcare including health promotion, injury and illness prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of commonly encountered health problems. You will serve as a community liaison and advocate while upholding the center's standards and patient-centered care framework.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient health status by reviewing medical histories, initiating screening and diagnostic tests, and performing procedures appropriate to patient conditions
• Assist the Chief Medical Officer in medical procedures
• Prepare and monitor patient care plans
• Interpret and evaluate individuals' healthcare requirements
• Write prescriptions
• Communicate closely with patients, emphasizing disease prevention and wellness strategies
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives
• Maintain professional working relationships with all staff, clients, and the public
• Demonstrate knowledge of legal issues including patient confidentiality and risk management
• Consult with the Chief Medical Officer as dictated by patient need and assessment findings
• Establish and maintain communication with other center providers, staff, and volunteers to promote consistency and continuity of care

Required Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in California
• Master's Degree in Nursing with National Certification from an accredited school (for Nurse Practitioner applicants)
• Valid DEA Certificate
• Current CPR (BLS) certification
• Experience working in an outpatient health clinic or office setting
• Demonstrated experience with Electronic Medical Records
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to recognize problems, collect data, and establish facts
• Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies, and procedures

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a community health center setting working with underserved populations
• Experience with administration of community health programs and staff supervision
• Mission-driven approach to community health issues

Physical Demands

The position requires the ability to perform the following physical activities:

• Stand and walk or sit alternatively depending on specific needs; approximately 30% of time on feet and 70% sitting at desk
• Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, climbing stairs, pushing or pulling, and reaching above shoulders
• Constant writing, typing, grasping, turning, and finger dexterity
• Occasional lifting or carrying over 10 pounds; frequent lifting or carrying under 10 pounds
• Constant vision requirements to complete forms, read reports, and view computer screens; frequent need to see small detail and things clearly beyond arm's reach
• Constant hearing requirements to communicate over telephone and in person

Travel Requirements

Must be willing to travel locally between clinic locations. Occasional travel may be required for training or events.
