Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Interventional Pulmonology - Manhattan - 8 hr Days *inpatient & outpatient

Join NYU Langone Health as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Interventional Pulmonology at our Manhattan location. This role offers a blend of inpatient and outpatient work, with 60% of time spent on inpatient consultations and 40% in outpatient clinic settings. You will work collaboratively with attending physicians and the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to pulmonology patients, utilizing evidence-based practice and clinical expertise.

Clinical Setting

You will practice within NYU Langone Health's Interventional Pulmonology service, working in both inpatient hospital settings and outpatient clinics. This role operates under a collaborative practice agreement with a designated physician on the NYU Hospitals Center medical staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize patient care to meet individual needs and ensure appropriate clinical resource utilization per established protocols and pathways
• Monitor and trend cost effectiveness of the position relative to efficiency and performance indicators
• Perform complete health history, physical examination, and psychosocial assessment of patients
• Order and interpret laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies per practice protocols; identify abnormal findings and follow protocols for referral to consulting physicians
• Formulate plans of care collaboratively with the attending physician, patient, and family based on expected goals and length of stay
• Prescribe medications, including controlled substances with DEA authorization, and medical equipment per New York State law and practice protocols
• Prescribe physical and occupational therapy, home health services, and other therapeutic interventions per practice protocol
• Evaluate treatment and health care plans for effectiveness and modify per clinical standards and practice protocols
• Work collaboratively with nursing staff, attending physicians, consulting physicians, and other disciplines to identify, develop, and implement appropriate care plans
• Provide consultation about therapeutic regimens to nursing staff responsible for patient care
• Facilitate continuity of care across the continuum of services including home care, other facilities, and follow-up appointments
• Maintain timely and appropriate communication with family members, housestaff, other disciplines, and ancillary services
• Assist in preparation, implementation, and evaluation of research protocols when applicable
• Work collaboratively with nursing and other disciplines in development and implementation of clinical studies
• Use evidence-based health care literature to advise and support appropriate practice changes
• Participate in development and monitoring of patient outcomes per established practice protocols for quality and performance improvement
• Serve as a clinical expert and resource for education of peers and other health professionals
• Participate in development and revision of interdisciplinary and nursing standards and patient/family education materials
• Maintain current expertise in area of practice and promote professional growth and development
• Consider needs and behaviors of specific patient age and cultural groups in all patient care
• Function as a respectful member of the health care team and participate in designated professional nursing standards and regulations
• Demonstrate knowledge of organizational Service Standards and incorporate them into performance of responsibilities

Schedule

• 8-hour days
• 60% inpatient consult work
• 40% outpatient clinic work

Required Qualifications

• Current registration as Professional Nurse in New York
• Current registration as Nurse Practitioner in New York
• Master's Degree in Nursing
• Certification by ANCC or Board Certification from other specialty organization that certifies Nurse Practitioners in a clinical area of practice (required as soon as feasible following graduation from NP graduate program)
• Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
• Registered Nurse License - New York State
• Nurse Practitioner License - New York State

Preferred Qualifications

• At least five years of clinical nursing practice in the care of the patient population served
• Previous experience as a nurse practitioner
• Advanced Life Support certification (ACLS, PALS) through the American Heart Association or Neonatal Resuscitation certification (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics (may be required based on selected privileges)
• Ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion that addresses patient/family safety and satisfaction
• Excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, creative problem solving, and excellent critical thinking and leadership
• Previously demonstrated ability to facilitate group processes and work cohesively and collaboratively as member of the interdisciplinary team
• Demonstrated effectiveness as a change agent
• Physical stamina, manual dexterity, visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities
• Membership in professional specialty organizations
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $151,530.94 - $182,030.94 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. Salary range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
